His Man Season 4 First Impressions: Second Chances and My Favorite Introvert Duo

His Man (남의연애) has officially returned for its 4th season! For those unfamiliar with the show, it is a South Korean gay reality dating program where a group of gay men live together in a secluded house for about a week. Isolated from the outside world, they navigate anonymous messages, jealousy, and intense emotional tension as they try to find their perfect match.

What Makes This Season Different?

There are a few factors that set this season apart. First, the show had to be completely reshot, which means most cast members already knew each other (except for two new faces). There is also an elimination system this time around; it seems those who aren’t “picked” by anyone might have to leave the house.

On a personal note, I think the casting this year is top-tier. Usually, there are only one or two standouts, but this season, almost every contestant is incredibly attractive, well-groomed, and they are all within a similar age range.

Why Was His Man 4 Reshot?

This season is unique because it was entirely reshot. Due to issues regarding just one specific housemate, the producers decided to scrap the first shoot entirely rather than trying to edit that person out.

Aside from Hangyeol and Yunjae, who are joining for the first time in this second shoot, the rest of the cast already had a history.

Reshooting: Hit or Miss?

Before the episodes aired, I saw on social media that the show was being reshot, and I was skeptical. I thought, “Will they just pretend to meet for the first time? That’s going to feel so forced.” However, by the second episode, the contestants openly discussed the reshoot. Since they already knew each other, the conversation felt much more relaxed and natural. We skipped the awkward “ice-breaking” phase and jumped straight into genuine vibes.

They encouraged one another, with many admitting they weren’t brave enough during the first week of the initial shoot. For most, this feels like a second chance. As a viewer, I see this as a plus because the first attempt only resulted in one couple. Hopefully, they’ll be more proactive in chasing their feelings this time.

Loving this season so far. I do not care that the company had to reshoot and invite the cast back; at least there are some new people, and they are all new to us, anyway. And I do not need to know what really happened. I shall enjoy the show! But yes, for some cast members, there are clearly opportunities to correct things from the last shoot, so I hope they all take them well.

The Drama: Kim Jae-ha and Lee Hyeong-jun

So, what exactly happened between these two? After the issues with the “problematic” member surfaced, the cast agreed to reshoot—except Jae-ha and Hyeong-jun couldn’t see eye-to-eye. Jae-ha wanted to do it again,

but Hyeong-jun felt that since they were already a couple, there was no point. This disagreement led to their breakup, and now, they are both back in the house as exes!

Jae-ha sees the show as an opportunity to officially come out to his family and inner circle. While his reasoning is valid, I think he broke Hyeong-jun’s heart in the process. He mentioned he wants to win Hyeong-jun back, but even if the feelings are still there, regaining that trust will be an uphill battle. If I were in Hyeong-jun’s shoes, I don’t think I’d give it another shot.

Who’s Into Who?

Based on my impressions, Kim Han-gyeol and Lee Hyun-jun are the most popular ones inside the house right now—everyone seems interested in them. But we know how fast things change in His Man!

Compared to Season 3, I find the drama and chemistry much more compelling. These men have been given a second chance, and I expect to see much more ambitious and bold moves as they try to secure their “endgame.”

Letting the newcomers pick the rooms was a genius move. They both snatched up the two-person rooms! Yun-jae chose Hyun-jun, and Han-gyeol picked Taichi, leaving the others in the triple rooms.🤣

The Pair I Ship the Most: Yun-jae and Hyun-jun

There are many great dynamics, but I am shipping Yun-jae and Hyun-jun so hard! They are the “two introverts” couple, and they have me glued to the screen.

this was the cutest part of the first two episodes.😍 🥰🥰

Watching them share silent glances had me giggling and kicking my feet. 😍 I felt just as shy and flustered as they did! Yun-jae is so sweet and innocent; he even worried if he was being selfish by picking Hyun-jun as his roommate, not knowing that Hyun-jun actually finds him cute and wants to get to know him. I hope they make a move soon before someone else swoops in!

Also, it looks like Minsung from Season 2 is coming next episode. I have a feeling he might get on Park Jae-ha’s radar. Let’s see what happens!
