For the anime I recommend, I think you should know two terms: Shounen ai and Yaoi.
“Yaoi” and “Shounen Ai” are terms often used to talk about anime and manga that focus on romantic or sexual relationships between male characters. Even though they are similar, they have some clear differences:
Yaoi:
- What’s in it: Yaoi usually has more explicit, detailed romantic and sexual scenes between guys.
- Who it’s made for: It’s mostly for adults and can have mature themes and explicit content.
- What it’s about: Yaoi stories mostly focus on the romantic and intimate sides of relationships between male characters.
Shounen Ai:
- What’s in it: Shounen Ai has less explicit content. It might have romantic relationships between guys, but not as clear or direct.
- Who it’s made for: It’s generally for a younger audience, often teenagers. It’s more about feelings, relationships, and romantic parts, not so much explicit scenes.

Synopsis
Lee Myeongyi has lived his entire life with a collapsed lung condition called pneumothorax. He doesn’t like the attention he gets at school due to his loud breathing, frequent coughing, and being excused from physical education and military service. Dealing with the curiosity or annoyance of his classmates makes him feel like a complete outsider. However, the class president, Han Seonho, consistently shows kindness and understanding. With his friendly demeanor and good looks, Seonho becomes Myeongyi’s first crush.
Nine years later, Myeongyi attends his high school reunion with one goal in mind: to see Han Seonho again. He holds a small hope about Seonho’s feelings for him. However, this hope fades when he notices a gold ring on Seonho’s left hand and hears classmates asking probing questions. Feeling disappointed, Myeongyi excuses himself to smoke, despite the condition of his lungs. Surprisingly, Seonho follows him outside, marking the unexpected beginning of their secret love affair.
